Ian and Buddy

Hi All.
Today Myself Susan and our Granddaughter Ali visited some more of the North Somerset Art Weeks venues.
One of the venues we found particularly good was the one run by Ian and Buddy at Pear tree farm,Kingston Seymour BS21 6UZ.
This was one of our favourite venues and I took a few pics that I thought you would like to see.
Ian and Buddy have made a wonderful collection of Ceramics,glass art,mixed media and wood.
It is there intention to be open all the year round so it is well worth a visit

North Somerset Art week 2013

The county of Somerset is split into two areas for their annual art weeks and I think it is because it is quite a large county.
The Art weeks are venues  were several artists of different disciplines get together and display their works for the benefit of visitors This goes from Friday the 3rd of May until Monday the 12th May.
There are over 300 Artists in 100 plus venues so obviously  a lot to see.
I am in the South Somerset area and we have our Art weeks in the beginning of September.
Yesterday my wife Sue and I visited about half a dozen venues and I have taken a few pics for you to look at.
The standard of work in most of the venues is very high.

Chinese Porcelaine covered Jar

Hi all.
I have been finding it a bit difficult to find inspiration lately so after a discussion wit Mark Sanger who suggested I should look at Ceramics this is something I have come up with.
The inspiration for this piece comes from a Porcelain covered jar Circa 19th-20th century and is described as late Qing - early Republic period.
The original is highly decorated with Chinese figures and very ornate so this is my interpretation.
This piece is turned from Ash and approx 8" high.

In an effort to improve my photography I have started using a light tent.

The bristol guild of applied Art

Last October I was contacted by Mr Ken Straddling Director of the Bristol Guild of applied Art asking if I would be interested in supplying them with some of my work.The bristol guild is one of the best Galleries in the country and one of the largest covering four buildings in Park St Bristol. Due to pressure of work I only managed to take some pieces there last Tuesday.
Mr Straddling bought seven pieces and took several more on sale or return so obviously I am very pleased
It is really good to get your work accepted by such a prestigious gallery.

Within the Gallery is The Ken Straddling private collection which is a collection of works from all over the world collected by Ken Straddling over the last sixty five years.
This collection has over four hundred pieces of work from some of the best makers in the world  and Ken Straddling bought one of my pieces to go in the collection this is a great honer indeed and I am very proud.
