Never too old to learn

My Student today was Mike 79 years young who brought his own very large Beech Burr blank.
When Mike came here he was worried he might not have the stamina to complete the bowl in the day but as you can see he did and made a very nice 13" x 5" Bowl finished with hard wax oil.

Good company

I do not work on a Saturday if I can help it but sometimes it is the only day people can make it.
Today was one of those days but Neil was such good company and a pleasure to teach that it was no real effort.
Neil was here because his friend Alison treated him to a days woodturning tuition for his 50Th Birthday.
Neil turned a beautiful Beech bowl with a Textured and coloured rim.
Very well done Neil thank you for being great company and making my day a real pleasure.

Doug

This is not because I am a bad photographer it is because Doug did not want his face shown.
He is probably wanted by an ex wife or something LOL.
Doug was my student today and I thought it was worth showing the bowl he made even if I cant show his ugly old mug.
We had a great day lots of fun and lots of serious work .
Doug will be taking up turning in the near future so hopefully I will see him again shortly.
Doug was another one who took to turning like a duck to water which is great for me as it means I don't have to work so hard.
Very well done Doug I hope Lisa is pleased with her Bowl.

Todays Student Peter

I met  Peter my Student late last year at an Art fair I was attending and he obviously fancied having a go at woodturning .
He is unsure whether he should take up turning as a hobby but I think he should as he took to it very quickly .
Peter turned a very respectable Beech bowl that is a present for his Wife Jackie I am sure she will be very pleased with it.
Very well done Peter I look forward to seeing you some time in the future.

Felicity and Dan are my first Students of 2017.
A lovely couple great fun company and a pleasure to be with and as you can see from the following pic quick learners.
Felicity and Dan turned very good bowls approx. 11" x 3" from two nice Beech blanks.
Well done both of you and thank you for being so easy to teach and being great company.
