Dave and Les

Today my Students were Dave and Les both good company and quick learners.
They started off with identical Sycamore Blanks but ended up with totally different Bowls.
Both went for coloured rims.
As you can see from the Pics they enjoyed their day here

A large Parcel

Today I took delivery of a very large parcel from a friend of mine.
We have been Internet friends for a number of years but I don't think we have ever met.
It is one of the biggest Sycamore Burrs I have ever seen.
The problem now is how to cut it up making the most of it
It weighs about a hundredweight

Making Bread and Cheese Boards

I have bought a Drum Sander used but in as good as new condition.
I am making some Bread and Cheese boards from 25 mm Sycamore.
I have it loaded with 120g and they are comming out like glass.
Will do some Oak Chopping Board next

Clive my Student today

My Student today was Clive an IT worker whatever IT is I get lots of IT workers I know it is something to do with Computers.If it has more than an on and of button I am lost.
Anyway Clive is obviously quite practical and works well with his hands because as you see he turned a beautiful Bowl from a very nice Beech Blank.
I really enjoyed today as Clive was great company and a pleasure to teach

Teaching today

My Students today were Nigel and Brenda a lovely couple from Coventry.
Today was a present for Brenda from Nigel although he could not remember which it was either Christmas or birthday.
We had a very nice day they were very easy company and quick learners.
They turned two lovely Sycamore Bowls Nigel's was plain wood with a concave rim and Brenda's was coloured with Acrylic paint.
Very well done both of you.

My Student today was Jamie

My Student today was Jamie who was here as a Christmas present from his Wife Nicola .
Jamie has fancied having a go at woodturning for some time and has considered it for a hobby.
I think he should take it up as he took to it like a duck to water.
Jamie was great company and made my day easy.

Another happy customer

Danny was treated to days Woodturning Tuition by his Partner Hannah
Danny is a carpenter by trade so turning came quite naturaly to him.
We had a very good day and Danny went away with a very nice Bowl turned from Apple wood.
Danny also bought a nice second hand Lathe that I bought from one of our Club members recently who was upgrading.I am sure he will have hours of pleasure with it
